Position: Associate Professor in Matrix Biology
Location: Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Tokyo, Japan
Type: Full-time, Tenure-track

Position Overview:
The Scleroprotein and Leather Research Institute at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor in Matrix Biology. The successful candidate will lead an independent research laboratory as Principal Investigator, focusing on basic to applied research on extracellular matrix and related biomolecules. The position includes a tenure review at the 3rd and 5th years, with the possibility of early promotion based on outstanding achievements.

The appointee will receive generous start-up funds, administrative support, and a reduced teaching load to facilitate a focus on research. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with those of tenured faculty at similar ranks. Japanese language skills are not required at the time of appointment.

Key Qualifications:
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Ph.D. in a relevant field from a non-Japanese institution.
  2. Ph.D. obtained within 10 years of the appointment date.
  3. Proven ability to conduct international collaborative research and publish co-authored papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Strong motivation and capability to secure external research funding.
